Privacy Policy

1. Introduction & Commitment to School Privacy

Gurukool ("we," "our," or "the Platform") provides digital school management infrastructure to educational institutions. We are committed to protecting the privacy of educational institutions, administrators, teachers, students, and parents.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, utilized, and safeguarded when using Gurukool websites, portals, and cloud services.

2. Database-per-Tenant Isolation Architecture

Unlike legacy shared-database applications, Gurukool implements a strict physical database-per-tenant isolation model. Every registered educational institution receives an independent database volume.

  • Student and parent records are never stored in shared tables across different schools.
  • Data from one institution cannot be accessed, cross-queried, or leaked to another.
  • School administrators maintain complete data sovereignty and can export full databases at any time.

3. Information We Collect

We collect information solely to provide operational school management functionality:

  • Account Credentials: Name, professional email address, and role permissions for authorized staff.
  • Academic Records: Class rosters, attendance logs, timetables, and examination marks submitted by authorized faculty.
  • Technical Metadata: Browser type, operating system, and IP address for session security, auditing, and fraud prevention.

4. Ethical AI Policy & Zero Training Guarantee

Gurukool includes built-in AI assistance for teachers (such as drafting circulars and lesson plans). Our AI operates under strict privacy safeguards:

  • Queries are processed ephemerally within the active session.
  • Student personal records are NEVER used to train, fine-tune, or improve public machine learning models.
  • We do not sell student data or intellectual property to third parties.

5. Cookies and Advertising Disclosures

Public marketing pages and informational blogs may use essential and analytics cookies to understand site traffic and optimize user experience. Third-party advertising networks (including Google AdSense) may serve contextual advertisements on public editorial pages in accordance with standard web guidelines. Advertisements are never served within authenticated student gradebooks, examination portals, or attendance registers.

6. Data Portability & Retention

Educational institutions retain 100% ownership over all uploaded data. Administrators may export records to standard CSV, Excel, and PDF formats at any time. Upon verified account termination, school database instances are purged in accordance with data protection regulations.
